We provide a wide range of general surgery to our patients in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, and surrounding areas throughout AZ. Explore our offerings here and contact us at (480) 892-2456 for more information and a consultation.

Please note that surgery is a constantly evolving field and as a result, the information here should be considered general and is subject to change.  Please discuss with your surgeon for the most up to date information.

Abdominal Surgery

Abdominal surgery may be necessary to treat digestive problems, bowel obstructions, intestinal bleeding, and other problems. Our team can diagnose your condition and recommend a procedure to restore good health. Some of our offerings include:

  • Appendectomy (removal of the appendix)
  • Cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder)
  • Colectomy (removal of all or part of the large intestine)
  • Colostomy (incision in the large intestine to allow for drainage)
  • Gastrectomy (removal of all or part of the stomach)
  • Liver cyst excision (removal of cysts from the liver)
  • Pancreatectomy (partial removal of the pancreas)
  • Splenectomy (removal of the spleen)

Breast Surgery

Breast surgery can be performed for both benign and malignant diseases.  We offer surgical treatment for appropriate indications in breast disease.  Surgical intervention is a critical component of treating breast cancer. It may be performed alone or in conjunction with chemotherapy, hormone therapy, radiation, and other treatments. The breast surgery we recommend for you depends on the size and stage of your cancer, the effectiveness of other treatment options, and your goals and preferences. We help our patients by offering the procedures like (but not limited to):

  • Breast biopsy
  • Sentinel node biopsy
  • Lumpectomy (removal of a tumor or cyst from the breast)
  • Mastectomy (removal of all or part of the breast)
  • Lymph node dissection
  • Breast scar revision
  • Breast implant removal – saline only if no reconstruction is planned. If you have a silicone implant or are interested in future breast reconstruction options, you should see a plastic surgeon.

Endocrine Surgery

The endocrine system is dominated by the thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, and others. We have a wide range of endocrine surgeries for our patients in Arizona, including (but not limited to):

  • Thyroid isthmusectomy (removal of connective tissue in the thyroid)
  • Hemithyroidectomy or lobectomy (removal of one half of the thyroid)
  • Total and partial thyroidectomy (removal of all or part of the thyroid gland)
  • Parathyroidectomy (removal of one or more of the parathyroid glands)

Hernia Surgery

A hernia is the protrusion of an abdominal organ through the abdominal wall. Hernias don’t usually go away on their own. In fact, they may grow if left untreated. Surgery is often the best choice to treat large or enlarging hernias. We operate on the following types of hernias:

  • Inguinal hernias (located in the groin or upper thigh)
  • Internal hernias (located within the confines of the peritoneal cavity between the parietal and visceral layers of the abdomen)
  • Spigelian hernias (located in the spigelian fascia or the layer of tissue separating abdominal muscles)
  • Ventral hernias (located within the abdominal wall muscles)
  • Incisional hernias (occurring at the site of a prior surgical incision)
  • Umbilical hernias (located in the navel region)

Oncologic Surgery

Despite advances in radiation treatment and chemotherapy, surgery is an important part of your treatment to remove many types of cancer from the body. Our team can operate on tumors and other malignant masses to reduce the chance of cancer spreading so that you can regain your life and your health.

Not all cancers or stages of cancer benefit from surgery, but if you need surgery, we can meet with you to discuss your options.  Treating cancer often requires a wide range of treatment options.  This will be done in conjunction with a team of cancer specialists.

Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery is a less invasive option than traditional open surgery. It involves inserting a tiny camera into the area requiring surgery. Then, using a video feed, the surgeon can work through small incisions to reduce the patient’s scarring and recovery time. We proudly offer this option to improve the experience of our patients.

Robotic Surgery

Da Vinci robotic surgery provides the effective control of open surgery with the less invasive approach of laparoscopy.  This can be considered the next step in laparoscopic surgery.   This allows for a magnified view and improved surgical control during your surgery.   The surgeon views the operating area in real-time and, using a central console, controls up to four robotic arms that help perform the intricate procedure on the patient.

Contrary to popular misconception, the da Vinci robot is incapable of performing or even moving on its own.  All actions are controlled by the surgeon.  Surgical advancements like this help us deliver the best possible results for our patients.  Robotic surgery is not appropriate for all types of surgery.  Your surgeon can help determine if this is right for you.

No-Insurance Packages

We accept most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield & Alliance, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Medicare, Medicaid, and many others. Visit our insurance page for more details, and call us to see that your specific policy is covered.  Although we regularly update our web page, insurance company plans change frequently and we are constantly adding new plans. Of course, the final determination of coverage will be up to you through communication with your insurance company.

No insurance? We understand that not everyone has insurance but may need surgery.  That’s why we work with patients who don’t have healthcare coverage to create a custom plan that works for them.  Please ask us for details.

Please contact us to explore our no-insurance packages to create an affordable option that fits your budget.

Do I Need a General Surgeon?

You need a general surgeon if you have a surgical issue ranging from a simple lump under the skin to a need for an abdominal procedure, thyroid surgery, breast surgery, or hernia repair. If we determine that you don’t need an operation, we will let you know that too. Please call us if you are not sure if working with a general surgeon is right for you.
